What investors look for in a pitch deck.
A great pitch deck answers seven questions in twelve slides: what problem, what solution, how big the market, what traction, what business model, who the team, and what the ask. Investors decide in under three minutes whether to take a meeting, so structure and clarity beat polish.
The structure seed VCs expect
Problem, solution, market, traction, business model, team, ask. Twelve slides is the working norm at seed; longer decks signal a Series A mindset. Lead with a concrete problem your customer would describe in their own words, not an abstract market category. Include bottom-up market sizing, not just TAM.
SEIS and EIS for UK founders
If you are raising under SEIS or EIS, the deck should make the qualifying trade obvious. Avoid red-flag activities (financial services, property development, energy generation contracts). State company age, employee count, and gross assets so SEIS-eligible angels can pattern-match in seconds.
Common mistakes
Winner-take-all framing without a credible wedge. Vanity metrics without retention. Bottom-up math missing entirely. No clear use-of-funds breakdown to a 12-month milestone. Team slide that lists titles instead of unfair advantages.
Don't email the PDF.
Once the deck is ready, you need to send it. Email attachments give you no tracking, no revoke, and no NDA. Beamprobe replaces them with a per-page tracked link. See which slides held attention, expire access, and watermark every view.
Pitch deck templates.
Are these pitch deck templates really free?
Yes. No email, no signup. Each template ships as a downloadable PDF with full slide structure and placeholder copy. Use them however you like, no attribution required.
What is the difference between an SEIS and EIS pitch deck?
SEIS targets pre-revenue or very early-stage rounds up to £250k with company age under three years and gross assets under £350k. EIS supports rounds up to £5m for companies under seven years old. The deck framing differs: SEIS leans into vision and team, EIS leans into traction and growth investment.
How long should a seed pitch deck be?
Twelve slides is the working norm. Seed VCs expect a tight read: problem, solution, market, traction, business model, team, ask. Anything over fifteen slides at seed reads as a Series A pitch and risks the wrong investor benchmark.
Can I edit the templates?
Open the PDF and use it as a structural reference - the slide titles and bullet prompts are the value. Rebuild in your tool of choice (Google Slides, Figma, Keynote, PowerPoint) following the structure. Editable native formats are on the roadmap.
How do I share my pitch deck securely?
Send a tracked Beamprobe link instead of emailing the PDF. You see who opened it, which slides held attention, and you can revoke or expire access at any time. Free plan available.
