What metrics belong in a SaaS pitch deck?
ARR (annual recurring revenue), MoM or YoY growth rate, NRR (net revenue retention), GRR (gross revenue retention), CAC (customer acquisition cost), LTV (lifetime value), payback period, magic number, and rule of 40. Show actual numbers, not just framework names.
What is the magic number for a SaaS company?
(New ARR in quarter / sales and marketing spend in previous quarter). Above 1 means sales and marketing are paying back within 12 months. Above 0.75 is acceptable at seed. Below 0.5 means the GTM motion is not yet efficient.
What NRR do SaaS investors expect?
100% NRR means expansion exactly offsets churn. 110% is good for SMB SaaS. 120%+ is best-in-class. Below 90% raises concerns about product fit or churn root cause.
