What investors look for
  • ARR with clear MoM or YoY growth trajectory
  • NRR, GRR, magic number, rule of 40 with real numbers not frameworks
  • Gross margin above 70%, customer concentration disclosed
  • Sales cycle length and pipeline conversion at each stage
  • Product-led or sales-led motion with appropriate metrics for each
When to use this template
  • B2B SaaS company raising seed or Series A
  • ARR $100k+ at seed, $1m+ at Series A
  • Pitching to SaaS-experienced VCs (Point Nine, OpenView, Notion Capital, Mosaic)
What NOT to include
  • MRR but no NRR; investors will assume the worst
  • Customer logo wall without contract value or retention context
  • Feature roadmap as a sales pitch; investors fund outcomes, not features
  • Per-seat pricing without expansion model when targeting growth investors
FAQ

SaaS Pitch Deck.

What metrics belong in a SaaS pitch deck?

ARR (annual recurring revenue), MoM or YoY growth rate, NRR (net revenue retention), GRR (gross revenue retention), CAC (customer acquisition cost), LTV (lifetime value), payback period, magic number, and rule of 40. Show actual numbers, not just framework names.

What is the magic number for a SaaS company?

(New ARR in quarter / sales and marketing spend in previous quarter). Above 1 means sales and marketing are paying back within 12 months. Above 0.75 is acceptable at seed. Below 0.5 means the GTM motion is not yet efficient.

What NRR do SaaS investors expect?

100% NRR means expansion exactly offsets churn. 110% is good for SMB SaaS. 120%+ is best-in-class. Below 90% raises concerns about product fit or churn root cause.

How long should a SaaS pitch deck be?

Thirteen slides is the working norm: cover, problem, solution, market, traction, metrics deep-dive, business model, GTM, product, competition, team, ask, thank you. Each metric slide should be visual (chart) not a wall of numbers.

Where can I share my SaaS deck with VCs?

Through Beamprobe with per-recipient tracked links. See which slide each fund spent time on. £29/month. NDA gate optional at seed. AI deck audit available.

How do you share your finished deck securely?

Send your finished deck through a per-recipient tracked link. See which slides each investor read, for how long, and on which day. NDA gate, watermark, expiry - all on the £29 Pro plan. UK data residency by default.
